2011 SCBWI Conference & NaPiBoWriWee Reunion!

2011 SCBWI Conference & NaPiBoWriWee Reunion!

National Picture Book Writing Week - NaPiBoWriWee - 2011!

Hello! This week, I will NOT be posting my usual daily blog schedule. Instead, I’m preparing for the upcoming SOCIETY OF CHILDREN BOOK WRITERS & ILLUSTRATORS conference happening this August 5-8, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Beverly Hills. I also will be hosting the annual NaPiBoWriWee reunion at this conference and tweeting live during the event…

(Keep reading after the jump for all the details!)

The SCBWI event is the annual international conference for both aspiring and published children’s book writers and illustrators, featuring dozens of amazing panels with guest authors and editors and agents. I highly recommend aspiring children’s book writers attend this event. For more info, go here: http://www.scbwi.org

For live blogging from the conference, please bookmark this link: http://scbwiconference.blogspot.com/

In addition, this is a reminder for those of you who participate in my annual NATIONAL PICTURE BOOK WRITING WEEK (aka “NaPiBoWriWee”). Every May 1-7, I invite all writers to join me in my crazy attempt to write 7 picture books in 7 days. 🙂 It’s just a fun event to promote picture book writing and to encourage those of us who have been procrastinating (myself included) to finally write and FINISH a first draft of a picture book. I post writing craft blogs plus special guest author Q&A blogs and also host a fun book giveaway contest where participants are chosen at random in a drawing for autographed picture books and other fun prizes!

If you would like to participate for next year’s NaPiBoWriWee, please bookmark my official NaPiBoWriWee blog here:

I am also hosting a NaPiBoWriWee Reunion in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel during the SCBWI Conference on August 6th at 5:30 PM. I posted a blog about it here: https://paulayoo.com/napi/?p=331

Details below:

NAPIBOWRIWEE REUNION!

August 6, 2011

5:30 PM

Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel (Lobby)

The NaPiBoWriWee Reunion will take place this Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 5:30 PM. We will meet in the LOBBY of the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza (2025 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, CA 90067). (Note: This is also where the national SCBWI conference is taking place.)

I know many of you plan to attend the annual Society of Children Book Writers & Illustrators national conference this August 5-8, 2011 in Los Angeles, CA. For the past few years, we’ve had an informal reunion gathering of NaPiBoWriWee folks at the conference.

Please Note: The reunion is open to ALL participants from 2009, 2010 AND 2011! icon_smile.gif

Finally, because I won’t have time to post my regular daily blogs, including my famous TUNA THURSDAY blog, I leave you with a photo from one year ago today… this photo is of me meeting my new kittens Beethoven and Charlotte. We adopted Beet and Char on August 1, 2010. They have provided big brother Oreo with many fun adventures. I promise a Tuna Thursday blog next week all about their adoption! Remember to spay/neuter your pets! So Happy First Year Adoption Anniversary, Beethoven & Charlotte! CatMommy (me) and Oreo the cat love you very much!

Meet Oreo's new siblings (L-R) Charlotte & Beethoven, adopted on August 1, 2010. Happy First Year Adoption Anniversary! 🙂

So that’s it for this week. Stay tuned next week for a full report from the SCBWI conference, plus we will return to our regularly scheduled programming of MUSIC MONDAY, TV TUESDAY, WRITER WEDNESDAY, TUNA THURSDAY, and FOODIE FRIDAY!

Until then, as always… Happy Writing! WRITE LIKE YOU MEAN IT! 🙂

Aww thanks Teresa! Hope u had a good vacation, how was it? I also needed a break cuz blogging is a lot of work, so I figure a vacation every now and then means more coherent blogs. LOL! 🙂

It was our annual vacation to see my family in Vancouver, and was wonderful, as usual. Vancouver is a foodie’s dream! 🙂

With all that you do and accomplish, it’s a wonder you don’t need vacations more often!
