"Friday 4000!" Who's with me? (Fri 6/26/09)

Friday's goal: "Friday Four Thousand Word Challenge," aka "Friday 4000!" Write 4,000 words by midnight. It is 10:48 a.m. PST. So that gives me approx. 11 hours and 12 minutes. That's 363 words per hour. I'll post hourly Twitter updates here: http://twitter.com/PaulaYoo Wanna join me? (Keep reading for some more updates...)

After being distracted yesterday by all the pop culture tragic news of not one but TWO pop culture icons with complicated lives (Farrah & Michael), I realized I got NO writing done. This week has been pretty bad for writing. I thought I would get all this work done now that I'm not substitute teaching for the summer. Instead, things like errands, house repair, going to the bank etc. got in the way. You know, real life! Gah! Plus, I had to prep for my summer writing class that I'm teaching at UCLA Extension. (Ooooh, my first class was Wednesday and I heart my students already! They are very cool and talented writers! It will be a good class!)

And then instead of writing, I was tooling around on Facebook and noticed fellow writer and Facebook pal JESSICA BURKHART had written an FB status update announcing she HAD to write 4,000 words for a deadline. Jessica is the author of the CANTERWOOD CREST series from Simon & Schuster's Aladdin MIX imprint. For more info on Jessica, check out her website here: http://www.jessicaburkhart.com/

For some insane reason, "Friday 4000" popped into my head. I thought, "Qhy not? Just write 4000 words in one day. You can do it!"

So I challenged Jessica plus anyone else to join me in this 4000 words in one day challenge! Good luck, girl, and let us know how you do!

Anyway, so based on a fellow Facebook writer's status update where she said she had to get 4,000 words done today, I thought, why not? I need to write a new chapter for my novel, and it will probably be about 4,000 words.

So from 10:48 a.m. until midnight, I will attempt to write 4,000 words. I will post hourly Tweets on my Twitter page and then post a blog later with details on the ordeal.

Anyone crazy enough to join me? Go for it. I dare you! What a way to kick off the weekend, huh?! Tongue out PS. If you decide to join me, please post your comments here and I'll check 'em out during the day and we can support each other in this crazy goal...
