Hamster Heaven (R.I.P. Little Bobbi) (Mon 10/12/09)

I am very sad to report that on Mon. Oct. 12, 2009 at 10 p.m., our dwarf hamster Bobbi passed away. Keep reading for more info...
As many of you know, I often posted blogs about my second dwarf hamster, Bobbi. My first hamster was Charlotte, and she was the star of my Myspace blog back in 2006-07 until she passed away. We then adopted Bobbi, our second dwarf hamster, in February 2007. I noticed her at PetCo because she was so active and the only dwarf hamster running on the wheel. She had a feisty personality. It was love at first sight!
My blogs that mentioned Bobbi over the past 1 1/2 years are posted below.
This is Bobbi's first blog - she actually took over my website to write a very fun blog back in April 2008:

Other blogs featuring Bobbi anecdotes included:

Bobbi even participated in NaPiBoWriWee this year:

And then Bobbi developed a couple tumors, survived hamster surgery, and then was diagnosed with cancer... and yet our feisty hamster didn't blink an eye! She kept running in her wheel and eating her sunflower seeds. Here are the blogs on that:

Despite all her ailments, Bobbi still was healthy and strong enough to interview children's book author BETTY G. BIRNEY:

Bobbi had been doing very well recently. She ate regularly, enjoyed her sunflower seeds, and ran in her wheel every day. She was playful and did not exhibit any unusual behavior despite being saddled with two rather large malignant tumors. (We had the first tumor removed via surgery but decided against any more surgery when the next two tumors appeared.)
Today Bobbi was eating and running in her wheel. She was her usual happy and playful self. I then peeked in at Bobbi's cage around 7 p.m. and she was sleeping. She had created a little nest with the cotton and bedding in her cage because the temperature had gotten rather cold in LA today. I popped back in around 10 p.m. to change her water when I saw that she had (sob) gone to Hamster Heaven.
At least she passed away during her sleep and was in no pain. But still...
Below are some pictures of Bobbi, including a shot of her in her cage when we took her on a car ride to the vet for her surgery!

Rest in peace, little Bobbi. Thank you for making us smile.
xoxo

Paula,
I'm so sorry to hear about Bobbi. My condolences to you. I know how much you loved her (and still do) and I'm sure she knew too.
Amigo has shed a tear for her.
Take Care
