Keep reading for the latest Cp. 2 of my cat Oreo's first Twitter novel, "CATastrophe!" plus info on a couple upcoming guest author interviews with MICHAEL FERRARI & TRACY TRIVAS!

Well, it's Friday, so you know what that means! Another installment of my cat Oreo's first Twitter novel, "CATastrophe!" He started writing it in June because he realized he can't force me to leave my computer, no matter how much he meows. So he decided, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. He has his own twitter page and started his first novel "CATastrophe!" He posts a few sentences every day on Twitter here:

"CATastrophe!" A Twitter Novel by Oreo the Cat

Chapter Two

I wriggle out of her arms. She follows me to the living room. "My violin" she cries. I see a footprint nearby. A clue?

The footprints go out the back door. My owner opens it to investigate. I race out! "Oreo!" she cries. "Come back!"

I've never been outside the house before. I'm scared. But I have to find my owner's violin! Is that a squirrel?

I chase the squirrel. He scurries across the street and points his tail at broken glass on the ground! Another clue!

The sun glints off the shards. I spot a nearby torn bit of paper. "22 Sycamore Lane." I know that street! I leave...

Aren't you proud of my little cat? I am thrilled with his exciting mystery novel!

In other news, stay tuned for some upcoming author interviews with MICHAEL FERRARI and TRACY TRIVAS!

MICHAEL FERRARI's debut middle grade novel, BORN TO FLY, hits bookstores on July 14, 2009.

He won the prestigious Delacorte Yearling Contest for a First Middle Grade Novel. For more information on that contest, check out this link below - all you aspiring middle grade novelists might consider entering it when you've finished your draft. Michael did and he won!

I highly recommend you check out his debut novel - it's amazing! I remember when he first wrote it, I thought the original draft was amazing, too! Here's the amazon link:

I'll be chatting with Michael next week about his debut novel and about his career as both a book author and as a professional screenwriter. Stay tuned!

TRACY TRIVAS's debut non-fiction book, A PRINCESS FOUND: AN AMERICAN FAMILY, AN AFRICAN CHIEFDOM, AND THE DAUGHTER WHO CONNECTED THEM ALL (with co-author Sarah Culbertson), came out this week from St. Martin's Press.

The book description says: "Sarah Culberson was adopted one year after her birth by a loving, white, West Virginian couple and was raised in the United States with little knowledge of her ancestry.  Though raised in a loving family, Sarah wanted to know more about the birth parents that had given her up. In 2004, she hired a private investigator to track down her biological father.  When she began her search, she never imagined what she would discover or where that information would lead her: she was related to African royalty, a ruling Mende family in Sierra Leone and that she is considered a mahaloi, the child of a Paramount Chief, with the status like a princess.  What followed was an unforgettably emotional journey of discovery of herself, a father she never knew, and the spirit of a war-torn nation.  A Princess Found is a powerful, intimate revelation of her quest across the world to learn of the chiefdom she could one day call her own."

Tracy is the wife of one of my UCLA Writers Program students, who is also a very talented writer. He had told me about her books, so I wanted to spread the word on her work as well! On top of this amazing non-fiction book, Tracy also sold her first YA novel called THE WISH STEALERS. This book debuts on January 26, 2010 from Aladdin Books. The book description says: "Pennies stolen years ago from a wishing fountain send Griffin on a life-or-death quest in Tracy Trivas's enchanting debut novel, The Wish Stealers."

I plan to interview Tracy as well about her debut non-fiction book and about her YA debut for next year. Should be a fascinating interview as well, so stay tuned!
