My Reality TV Show Debut This Sun. July 20, 2008!

Guess what? I make my reality TV show this Sunday July 20th! Watch me play my violin on THE TWO COREYS on A&E TV (Sun. 7/20 @ 10 pm ET, check your local listings). Keep reading for more details!

I know I sound like such a geek for being excited about this show, but honestly, I'm such an '80s geek anyway, so it was a blast getting a chance to be on this show. For me, this was a guilty pleasure fun experience - I never thought in a milion years I would end up on a reality show! Wink Hooray for cheesy guilty pleasure fun! Speaking of guilty pleasures, here's a shot of '80s teen movie stars Corey Feldman & Corey Haim from "The Lost Boys":

Corey Feldman is best known for his scene stealing performance in the movie "Stand By Me" and Corey Haim's most famous role was in the movie "Lucas." I looooooved both movies when I was growing up in the '80s, and I think their performances totally rock! Cool They also teamed up for a ton of teen movies in the '80s, and my favorite one of theirs was the vampire movie "The Lost Boys" starring Keifer Sutherland as the evil vampire! It was a funny, hip movie - I think this movie's snarky pop culture heavy dialogue was ahead of its time, given today's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" series and the movie "Juno." Another fun '80s guilty pleasure for me. Tongue out

We filmed "The Two Coreys" episode around Valentine's Day. In this episode, Corey Feldman wrote a pop love song for his wife Suzie. The serenade featured piano, drums, bass, and three string players - myself and two good friends on violin and cello. Although I can't say anything about this episode until it airs (I'll write a fun blog about my experience afterwards), I will say that it was FREEZING COLD when we performed the song outside. Hopefully I am in tune - I could barely hold up my violin! Tongue outWe only worked with Corey Feldman, and he was actually a very nice guy and fun to work with.

Here's a photo of myself, and my wonderfully talented musical friends Paloma (violin) and Ana (cello):

So set your TiVos and VCRs! Watch "THE TWO COREYS" this Sunday July 20th at 10 p.m. on A&E TV. Check your local listings.

It also airs at these dates and times:

Sunday, July 20th 10:00 pm ET
Monday, July 21st 02:00 am ET
Sunday, July 27th 10:30 pm ET
Monday, July 28th 02:30 am ET

The official website description of this episode, entitled "All You Need Is Love" says: "With Valentine's Day looming, Corey Haim realizes how alone he is and tries to find a date. Meanwhile, Corey Feldman plans the biggest Valentine's Day surprise ever for his beautiful wife Suzie. Haim meets a girl and takes her out to eat but she ends up trying to use him for Hollywood connections. The Feldmans set Haim up with former playmate Nicole Narain, but when Haim takes her out to dinner, he becomes over-eager and scares her off. Feldman's plans go perfectly as he surprises Susie with flowers, balloons, an upsized ring and an over-the-top serenade."

IN OTHER NEWS:

BOOK SIGNINGS: I had a blast signing books at the recent BookExpo America (BEA) and American Librarians Association (ALA) conventions in Los Angeles and Anaheim this past May and June. I also had fun at my latest book reading/performance with the band LISTING SHIP at the awesome Vroman's in Pasadena. I know I am WAY behind on my picture galleries, but please be patient, full picture galleries will be posted soon on all these events. For now, here's a taste:

Me signing books at ALA:

Me excitedly grabbing the galley of my brother David Yoo's second YA novel "STOP ME IF YOU'VE HEARD THIS ONE BEFORE" out this October from Hyperion.

Me doing my book reading/violin presentation and jamming with LISTING SHIP at the July 5th "Author & Music Series" at Vroman's Bookstore in Pasadena:

In the meantime, I've been AWOL from blogging recently because I was buried in a very stressful - but fun - TV pilot script deadline for a writing assignment job (by day, I'm a TV writer, by night, I'm an author, so it's tough juggling both types of writing!). A bunch of other stuff happened, things like getting our condo painted etc., so it's been a really busy summer! I hope to work soon on my next YA novel, do revisions for my second children's picture book for Lee & Low Books, and think of the next "Harry Potter" bestselling idea. haha! Money mouth

I'll post a follow-up blog after "The Two Coreys" episode airs with some fun stories about what it was like to be on a reality show. I really had a blast and I can't wait to share with my hilarious adventure with you! Until then, enjoy this cute new photo of my recently adopted awesome cat OREO while I return to the writing batcave... Undecided
