On the Road - May 7
Greetings from my new home away from home, Zoka Coffehouse in Seattle, land of lap top users and caffeine addicts and free wireless Internet! (Live photos below from my iPhotoBooth!)

Just spent the morning and afternoon at Eckstein & Chinook Middle School...
The students at both Eckstein & Chinook Middle Schools were fantastic! Once again, they asked great questions and laughed at my jokes. Phew!
My presentation basically involves me babbling endlessly about how I became a writer, explaining how a book gets published (how it sells, how it gets edited, what goes into producing the final product of a book via copy edits, galleys etc.). I also try to make the teachers happy by emphasizing how you can't give up after getting a lot of rejections from people (in my case, editors and agents during my early days of trying to become a writer) and how revision is SUPER important to becoming a good writer. I also show a slide show of how to make Spam sushi rolls (as explained in one of the chapters of my novel and featured as a picture gallery in this website here). I also show some horrible pictures of myself from my high school yearbook!
Plus some lovely Duran Duran photos, like this one...
I also play my violin! I play some of the pieces featured in GOOD ENOUGH, including the opening of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto and one of the cadenzas from Rimsky Korsakov's Capriccio Espagnol. Then I jam and play some Zeppelin and Foo Fighters and that "Hey Ya" song (a new addition when a student asked for some hip hop and that for some reason was the only song I could remember!). Here's a pic of me jamming from earlier today...
The students at these schools have been wonderful! And several of them have become my friend on myspace! Yay!
In other news, check out this very nice review from my Myspace pal Melissa, and a guest blog I wrote for Teen Book Review:

Paula Yoo guest blog for TEEN BOOK REVIEW
Well, I hope to post a few picture galleries soon, so stay tuned. Until then, I have to leave and do a book signing soon at ALL FOR KIDS BOOKS & MORE.
I'll post again tomorrow!
