Skype Video School Visits This Week! (Mon. 12/14/09)
Just a quick shout out to the awesome students of Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, SC!
It's super early in the morning, and I just chatted with them via SKYPE video! Keep reading for more details...
I'm doing two SKYPE video school visits this week with these cool teens, thanks to the SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL LIBRARIANS (SCASL) who nominated GOOD ENOUGH for the 2009-10 Young Adult Book Award Nominee List! Go here for details: http://www.scasl.net/bookawards/ and here for the full list of the 2009-10 award nominees: http://www.scasl.net/bookawards/documents/revised2009-2010nominees.pdf
Today I chatted with an 8:30 AM class of bright-eyed 9th to 12th graders who love to read. Many of them are aspiring writers, too! My cat Oreo kept interrupting though by jumping up on my computer to disrupt the video call. LOL! It was a pleasure to chat with them, even though it was 5:30 AM for me!
I'll be doing another Skype school visit tomorrow with them! It's amazing how technology works today - who knew authors would one day be able to visit schools thousands of miles away via video phone conferencing? It's like Star Trek!
Well, now that I'm really awake, I'm going to write. I told one aspiring teen writer that the best advice is to write every day - it's like being an athlete and exercising every day. I feel that should be applied to writing as well. So it's off to the Writing Batcave with a ton of coffee before I have to head off to work! Happy Writing!
