The 2009 SCBWI Summer Conference is a mere 45 days away (but who's counting?). I have registered, reserved my room, and ordered my NaPiBoWriWee gear, so I'm all set. Are any other PiBo's attending? Any news on a PiBo reunion while we're there?

Just posted an official conference thread for everyone to post here:

Looking forward to discussing this year's conference. Please post at the above link.
Roni, I totally missed this message earlier. Sory! Just posted a new blog and will announce an official date and time as we get closer to the conference, we will have an official PiBo reunion! :)
Once upon a time, a lonely PiBo wandered aimlessly through a throng of one thousand other authors. Having been rebuffed, rebuked, and ridiculed once too often, she had reluctantly refrained from asking one more person, "Are you a PiBo?" They must be here somewhere, she thought while scanning the crowd for the tell-tale markings on a T-shirt, button, or coffee mug. But, alas, the sea of souls was simply too vast. Would she ever find another survivor who, like herself, had sacrificed a precious week to the noble pursuit of picture book publication? Oh, if only the PiBo's had replied to her post! If Paula had only blogged a plan! (If only she had been watching where she was walking, she would not have bumped into the Three Silly Chicks with their three cups of coffee, which she now wore down the front of her once wintery white PiBo shirt!) With her last ounce of dignity suspended like a raindrop stretching ever downward before plummeting to depths unknown, she stood stoic in the center of the lobby and called, "Where, oh where, have the PiBo's all gone?"

LOL Roni! Yes, it has been PiBo-less recently. I think people are exhausted from that traumatic week in May. I loved your "story." I will post a new blog for PiBo's soon because the conference is coming up, so let me think of some fun stuff to tempt Pibo's back either physically for the conference or online for those too far away from California... :) PS. And how is your writing going?
best
Paula
Sadly, my little "story" above is the most original writing I've done in a few weeks. With summer here and no school, plus the demands of my "day job," I haven't been very disciplined about setting aside the time to write. I am happy to report, however, that I read a PiBo manuscript to my writers' group, and it was very well received. I submitted that one for critique at the conference. Meanwhile, I've done some revisions on two other PiBo mss and am brain-stewing ideas for my YA (I'm about halfway through the first draft). So, to answer your question about how my writing is going: It isn't, really. At least, not as much as I would like. But the conference timing couldn't be more perfect -- I'll come home psyched and raring to go just in time for the kidlets to go back to school!
Looking forward to meeting you!
Roni
Hey Roni, I know how frustrating it is to find time to write. Hang in there! I'm glad that you had a good workshop and submitted to the critique at the conference. That might be the inspiration you need to get back on track! I think you've done more writing than you've given yourself credit for - brainstorming and revising totally count as real writing! Can't wait to meet you PiBo's soon! best, Paula (PS. Posted new blog etc. too)
Yay Roni! I'm excited you've registered! PiBos, let us know if anyone else is coming. I'm pretty sure several are coming, Roni, I just can't remember who. I'll do a blog later this week to ask for a headcount so we can figure out a reunion day. Yay!
Hi Paula and Roni,
I'll be there too. I still need to order my PiBo mug (I'm a coffee freak) and other stuff. I'd love to meet up at the conference. WAY COOL!!!! See you guys there!
