Welcome to Paula Yoo’s 4th annual National Picture Book Writing Week (aka “NaPiBoWriWee”)!
This year’s NaPiBoWriWee event officially begins at midnight on Tuesday May 1, 2012 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday May 7, 2012. Stay tuned for more details about this event as we get closer to the big day.
(In a nutshell, for those of you who are new to the NaPiBoWriWee event, it’s a fun week where we attempt to write 7 picture books in 7 days. I also provide fun prizes, including signed copies of my picture books (SIXTEEN YEARS IN SIXTEEN SECONDS: THE SAMMY LEE STORY/Lee & Low ’05 & SHINING STAR: THE ANNA MAY WONG STORY/Lee & Low ’09), in a contest drawing at the end of the event. We also feature many surprise guest author Q&A and book giveaways as well. As a published picture book author, I know writing these books is a very difficult process. The point of my event is to encourage both newbie and veteran writers to brainstorm and write rough drafts that you can revise later for the rest of the year. This event is to promote picture book writing as well as to fight off procrastination. No more excuses! Until May 1st, you are allowed to brainstorm ideas, outline, research and take notes. But NO WRITING. You have to save the writing for May 1-7! For more details, you can check out last year’s press release on the 2011 NaPiBoWriWee event here: http://paulayoo.com/napi/?p=11)
Until I post more information about this event, I wanted to make a quick announcement that our that our NaPiBoWriWee Store is now open so you can buy your 2012 NaPiBoWriWee souvenirs now before the big event starts! Good luck and I look forward to writing 7 picture books in 7 days with everyone! Mark your calendars for May 1-7, 2012!
