Tuna Thursday: What My Cats Did While I Was at ComicCon2011!

Beethoven turns the ComicCon2011 bag into his new hiding spot!

Welcome to Tuna Thursday! Today is a special ComicCon2011 edition where I write about what my three cats (Oreo, Beethoven and Charlotte) did while I was gone all weekend in San Diego.

Turns out they really partied it up with Ginger, our catsitter! 🙂 Ginger is also a certified RVT (registered veterinary technician) at an animal hospital. Our catsitter is WONDERFUL. She’s super smart and incredibly compassionate and very responsible. I also heart our catsitter Ginger because she is a trained vet tech who can also keep an eye on our cats’ health while we are gone.

While I was at ComicCon, Ginger texted me every day with photos and daily reports. Turns out my cats were quite the handful!

(Keep reading after the break for what my cats did while I was away at ComicCon2011 plus some fun pics!)

Below is an actual transcript of the text conversation between my catsitter Ginger and I while I was at ComicCon, plus some photos. It’s pretty hilarious stuff. Hmmm. Maybe this could be a new TV series I could pitch to SyFy? LOL! 🙂 Enjoy!

THURSDAY JULY 21, 2011

GINGER THE CATSITTER: I’m in with the cats! They all said hello! Awww! Oreo says Mreow?!

ME: Thank you! BTW is Oreo getting too fat? I’m worried about his weight. (Note: Oreo is 17 pounds.)

CATSITTER: Oreo looks good to me!!!

ME: You are welcome to eat anything in our fridge and you can open up a bottle of wine if you want! BTW how does Oreo’s chin look? I noticed he had some cat acne.

CATSITTER: Oh thanks! I probably won’t have wine tonight but thank you! I’ll check Oreo’s chin now!

About 20 minutes go by…

CATSITTER: Beethoven is so sweet and following me around! Oreo won’t let me look at his chin yet. I will try again. Charlotte is being a little shy so I’ll just hang out for a while!

After a couple hours…

CATSITTER: Oreo’s chin looks clean and clear! Charlotte is under the couch. 🙁

ME: Where’s Beethoven?

CATSITTER: Beethoven is hanging out! 🙂

ME: Isn’t Beet adorable? 🙂

CATSITTER: Oh yes he is! I love him so much! He is such a big sweet boy! And Oreo is Mr Cool and Charlotte will warm up over time I’m sure!

ME: So sorry Char is being shy. She loves food, can u tempt her with wet food or the new feather stick thing?

CATSITTER: I tried with food. I will try feather stick tomorrow. She just has to feel comfortable with me again!

ME: Cool. Yes she can be skittish sometimes … When Beet goes to the vet without her, she hisses at him until she gets used to his smell.

Ginger texts me a pic of Beethoven below:

Beethoven is curious about something on the floor...

FRIDAY JULY 22

CATSITTER: On my way to the kitties! Just have one emergency stop to the doggies whose mom is at comicon too! Will txt you when there! Hope you are having fun at comicon!

After an hour…

CATSITTER: Everyone is fabulous!!!! Were going to hang out for a while!!!!

CATSITTER: Oreo is such s love bug!!!

CATSITTER: Charlotte misses you! She’s in the mattress! I’m trying to coax her out with food! Beethoven is a big sweet boy!!!

A little later…

CATSITTER: Charlotte came out to eat! Good girl!

CATSITTER: Beethoven is drinking my water with his paw and flinging it at me! He is definitely a water cat!

ME: Just go these texts, bad cell reception at convention center. thank u!!!!!! LOL yes Beet and water r a crazy mix. So sorry char hid again but glad u got her fed!!!!

About 15 minutes later…

CATSITTER: Charlotte came out a little later on when the boys and I were watching TV! But then went back down the hall! Hopefully this evening she’ll be more used to me!

ME: LOL weird she is so aloof. That is not like her. I wonder if she smells cat on u from work? Even when Beet was at vet for the afternoon once she hissed at him

A little later… Charlotte is still not warming up to Ginger, our catsitter, who had rescued Char and Beet when they were born in an apartment garage and then later asked me to adopt them. She’s very close to these kittens and so it was strange that Charlotte was acting so shy around Ginger!

CATSITTER: Oh Charlotte is making me sad. She looks at me like I’m going to kitten nap her! Oreo has been talking up a storm! Beethoven follows me and sniffs me! They are all so sweet! Char is just nervous!

About 10 minutes later…

CATSITTER: Oh yay! Miss Charlotte came out to say hello!

Ginger then texts me a picture of Charlotte…

Charlotte finally greets our catsitter after hiding for most of the night...

ME: Awww thank u!!!

SUNDAY JUNE 24, 2011

CATSITTER: The kitties are all great this morning! Beet and Oreo met me at the door as usual and Char has made a couple of appearances to say hi!

ME: We r leaving San Diego now. THANK U!!!!!

We arrive home around 2 PM. Ginger has left a nice report on our table, including such details as: “Oreo is such a good big bro to Beethoven and Charlotte, and they seem to bring his inner kitten out.”

I then text these pictures to our catsitter to let her know they were doing well after she had left.

Oreo watches me unpack from ComicCon2011!

Charlotte was basking in the sun by the living room window when we arrived home after ComicCon2011!

Beethoven as always is up to no good, that mischievous troublemaker!

CATSITTER: Oh so beautiful!!!! Thank You!!!!

All three of them are SOOOOO cute!!!! I love how soft they look. Akiri has been begging for another cat….I may have to give in soon.

  2. Definitely a pitch to Syfy execs. Do it from the POV of the “big three.” All the camera shots are through their eyes. Boffo box office/viewership! Think of all the pet related business lined up to sponsor and provide product placement!

LOL! I think our show would be even better than Andy Samberg’s SNL sketch “Laser Cats.” 🙂

Fun blog! So glad you have Ginger to cat sit when you’re away.

Your felines are phenom! Too bad I’m not working at a studio anymore, otherwise, I’d snatch up your pitch for sure 🙂 What an awesome catsitter you have … your kids are lucky 🙂
