Typeface Tuesday: New Guest Author Q&As Coming Soon!

Welcome to Typeface Tuesday!

Welcome to TYPEFACE TUESDAY! I know, Tuesdays are usually TV TUESDAYs, but given my insane EUREKA schedule and the fact that I wrote a TV-oriented blog yesterday called MEDIA MONDAY about the August 22nd airdate of my latest episode, “Clash of the Titans,” I thought I’d rename Tuesday’s blog to fit today’s theme. 🙂 But don’t worry, TV Tuesdays will return. (See, my blog is exciting, huh? You never know what to expect… there are surprises from time to time!)

Anyway, today’s blog is an official announcement of some future Guest Author Q&As you can look forward to… stay tuned for future interviews with the three following amazing authors. FYI, although I am a published kid lit author, I love to read other genres as well, including poetry, adult literary fiction, and narrative non-fiction. So check out the variety of Q&A blogs I have lined up! 🙂

The author lineup includes SONYA SONES, SHEELA CHARI, SCOTT MARTELLE and SUSAN WHITALL.

(Keep reading after the jump for details…)

Sonya Sones

SONYA SONES is an award-winning poet, YA novelist and picture book author whose latest novel is her adult fiction debut. The novel is a poetry novel called THE HUNCHBACK OF NEIMAN MARCUS (Harper ’11). I’ll be chatting with Sonya about her books and what it was like to make the transition from kid lit to adult lit.

Sheela Chari

SHEELA CHARI is a debut YA novelist whose book, VANISHED, debuted this month from Disney-Hyperion. And guess what? She also plays the violin, which makes her EXTRA cool in my book. 🙂 I have a billion questions for Sheela, whose book involves mystery and music! Intrigued? I know I am! 🙂

Scott Martelle

SCOTT MARTELLE is an acclaimed journalist and author of the non-fiction narrative books, BLOOD PASSION: THE LUDLOW MASSACRE AND CLASS WAR IN THE AMERICAN WEST and THE FEAR WITHIN: SPIES, COMMIES, AND AMERICAN DEMOCRACY ON TRIAL, both from Rutgers University Press. I’ll be talking with him about his latest book, THE FEAR WITHIN, whose themes and historical significance strike a chord in today’s post 9-11/USA Patriot Act climate. I also worked with Scott at The Detroit News, so I’m looking forward to this interview with my friend and writing mentor!

Susan Whitall

SUSAN WHITALL is a veteran journalist and rock music critic/writer as well as the author of several music non-fiction books. Her latest book is FEVER: LITTLE WILLIE JOHN – A FAST LIFE, MYSTERIOUS DEATH AND THE BIRTH OF SOUL by Susan Whitall with Kevin John (Titan Books ’11), featuring a forward by Stevie Wonder. I also worked with Susan at The Detroit News, where she taught me a lot about music journalism. I was a huge fan of CREEM Magazine (she’s an alumnus of that magazine) and we bonded over a ton of favorite bands and went to many a rock concert! 🙂 I look forward to chatting with Susan about this legendary musician whose artistry influenced what would soon become known as soul music. Because this is a music-oriented book, I’ll be posting this in a future MUSIC MONDAY blog.

So that’s it for my debut TYPEFACE TUESDAY. 🙂 Stay tuned for these Q&A Guest Author blogs that will be posted this Fall 2011. And come back tomorrow for WRITER WEDNESDAY, where I’ll be posting a wrap-up blog on the 2011 national Society of Children Book Writers & Illustrators Conference. Until then, HAPPY WRITING! WRITE LIKE YOU MEAN IT! 🙂
