Foodie Friday: Happy Hour Edition – Fraiche!

Fraiche Happy Hour!

Welcome to FOODIE FRIDAY, my weekly blog where I post everything from recipes to food blogger interviews to favorite cooking shows and places to eat! Today’s blog is a Happy Hour edition featuring FRAICHE.

FRAICHE is an amazing restaurant located in Culver City, CA. They feature lots of fancy food and a very knowledgeable wait staff and some talented chefs!

We recently discovered they have a Happy Hour! OMG! Currently, their happy hour goes from 5 PM to closing on Sundays through Thursdays, and 5-7 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. They feature two $5 glasses of wine (red and white choices) and $6 beers plus a very nice happy hour menu featuring smaller portions of their main entrees for discounted prices.

For more info on their happy hour, go here: http://www.fraicherestaurantla.com/menus/happyhour_cc.pdf

Pictured above are some of the foods we have sampled at this fantastic happy hour. The good eats included the following items listed below:

— Salmon ceviche w/apple grapefruit red onion cilantro, crispy chickpeas w/lime chili sea salt

— Smoked trout rillettes w/lemon chives and creme fraiche & oyster shooter w/tomato vodka and horseradish

— Beet salad with orange, pistachio & ricotta

— Parsley sea salt fries

— Truffle aoli onion fondue cheese burger

Gosh, I’d not been to the L.A. area since about 1993…but next time I’m there, I’ll have to look up Fraiche! (The name reminds me that I’m going to try making my own fraiche since my mozarella making was a success.)

Okay, there’s a place around the corner from me on the Main Line that serves Philadelphia cheese steak filling wrapped inside an egg roll wrapper. The whole thing is deep-fried like you would an egg roll, and I have to say, it’s probably my favourite happy hour food EVER.

The place is called JR Monaghan, and they make a mean burger, too (although Elevation Burger forever has my heart).

In downtown Philly, there’s an Israeli tapas place called Zahav that has the MOST amazing fried cauliflower I have ever had. We actually ordered another plate of it, it was so good. I haven’t been there for happy hour yet, but they have it – and that cauliflower – so therefore it must be awesome. 😉
