TV Tuesday: ComicCon2011 Wrap-Up!
Welcome to TV TUESDAY! Today we have a special blog featuring photos and a wrap-up of my adventures at ComicCon2011 in San Diego. I attended the event with the cast and writing staff of our show EUREKA (airs Mondays at 8 PM on SyFy). It was a busy few days filled with long lines, endless shuttle rides, and lots of Band-Aids for my aching feet, but it was worth it!
EUREKA airs Monday nights at 8 PM on SyFy, followed by WAREHOUSE 13 and ALPHAS. For more info on our show, go here:Β http://www.syfy.com/eureka

We arrived in San Diego on Friday morning, with just enough time to spare to check into our hotel and then jet over to the convention floor. It was overwhelmingly crowded, as always. This year, I didn’t have enough time to walk the entire floor, so I just took a few pics, including one of the larger-than-life Boba Fett…
We then headed to the panel. The line was super long. Here’s a shot of our feet. LOL! π (Feet include that of me, story editor Kira Snyder, co-executive producer Eric Tuchman, and our significant others!)Β Some of our Eureka writers showed up in their full Eureka Tesla High Mathlete glory (they wore matching Tesla High Mathletes shirts).
We finally got our seats and the panel began. It was moderated by Wil Wheaton, who plays Dr. Isaac Parrish on our show. The panel included Eureka co-creator and executive producer Jaime Paglia, executive producer Bruce Miller, and actors Colin Ferguson (“Sheriff Jack Carter”), Salli Richardson-Whitfield (“Dr. Allison Blake”), Neil Grayston (“Douglas Fargo”) and Felicia Day (“Holly Marten”). Below are some pics from the panel…
Highlights from the panel included Will Wheaton and Neil Grayston hamming it up in their competition for Felicia Day’s heart, the entire audience singing “Happy Birthday” to Colin because it was his birthday, and Colin calling Erica Cerra (“Jo Lupo”) on his cell phone and having the audience shout “Hello” to her. (Erica could not join the panel this year because she was busy filming scenes for our next Eureka episode for Season 5!) We also announced that our second Christmas Eureka special will be ANIMATED. (For more info on our Christmas special, go here: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/07/25/idUS61024520920110725)Β The fans also asked some fantastic and thoughtful questions, and there was a lot of funny moments throughout the panel.
If you want to see the panel, check out this fan video on youtube:Β http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk6mVlhw5WQ
Afterwards, we headed to the SyFy UCP party. Below are some fun pics of us there:
As always, I took pictures of the food at ComicCon, so please stay tuned for a special COMICCON2011 Edition of FOODIE FRIDAY blog to be posted Friday July 29! π
After the SyFy UCP party, we headed to my agency’s party (CAA). That was also a blast. They were also featuring this cool video game called YOOSTAR 2, so of course I had to have my picture taken with it! π
Then we attended the Eureka preview screening of episode 413, “Glimpse,” written by staff writer Ed Fowler. That episode featured a cameo by STAN LEE. He surprised the audience by showing up to say a few words (he was hilarious!). He got a standing ovation, of course. π Here’s a shot of that:
I also had the pleasure of meeting a couple of Twitter pals who are huge Eureka fans. It was wonderful to see them and to meet some of our fans in person. They’re awesome folks!
After the screening, the writing staff plus actress Salli Richardson-Whitfield (“Allison) and her husband, actor Dondre Whitfield, had a late night dinner at Cafe Diem at the Hard Rock Hotel. Some pics below:
Here’s a photo courtesy of our co-creator and executive producer Jaime Paglia’s Twitter page. (I’m sitting at the table to the left because I was also with two very dear friends who are huge sci fi fans.)
After that, we went home and crashed. Very tired! The next day, I relaxed in our hotel hot tub because ComicCon is hard work! LOL!
I had a busy Saturday of eating, relaxing, and then attending the SyFy E! party! I met the lovely cast of BEING HUMAN on SyFy and saw our Eureka and Warehouse 13 stars plus a whole slew of really good-looking actors. I also got to meet Anthony Head who played Giles on one of my all-time favorite shows, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I told him I was a fan and that our character Fargo on Eureka is also a Buffy fan. He was so charming and nice and kissed me on both cheeks! Squeeeee! π
Some highlights from the party below. (And no, I never saw Harrison Ford even though he attended. I wonder where he was hiding? LOL!)
Overall, I had a blast at ComicCon2011! It was so fun to meet some of our fans and to attend the panels and Eureka/SyFy party events. We were exhausted when we got home. And of course one of my three cats immediately took over our ComicCon bag and made it his new home:
